Hi, I'm Stacey Mason! I'm a creator, researcher, and critic of interactive narratives based in Oakland, California. I'm the Founder and Director of Storymason Media, an agency aimed at helping companies develop procedural narratives and other experimental narrative forms.

Before Storymason, I worked in R&D positions at places like Telltale Games, Hangar 13 (2K), Zynga, Dorian, and a variety of ambitious indie projects.

I'm passionate about bridging industry and academic research communities. I have a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the Expressive Intelligence Studio at UC Santa Cruz, where my dissertation, Responsiveness in Narrative Systems, was supervised by leading academic-practitioners in interactive narrative.

When I'm not making games, I do a lot of running, hiking, reading, journaling, and karaoke. I love attending art events, theater, concerts, and comedy shows. I also love to savor and analyze things, so I love book clubs, wine tasting, video essays, and analysis streams on Twitch!
